I am using barley in this recipe due to its amazing benefits.Barley contains a high level of potassium, calcium, and magnesium which help decrease blood pressure naturally. Including barley in your diet help maintain blood pressure.
Barley is a good alternative to rice and white bread. It is packed with nutrients that not only aid weight loss but also help in maintaining bone health, heart health, inflammation, and digestion.
Barley contains selenium, this is a kind of mineral which is not present in most foods. Selenium plays a role in liver enzyme function and helps detoxify some cancer-causing compounds in our body. Selenium prevents inflammation, it also decreases tumour growth rate and helps our immune system fight infection by stimulating cells to combat infections.
Barley not only supports overall wellness, plant-based fibre foods are also known to lower the risk of colorectal cancer. Beta-glucan fibre found in barley also help stimulate the immune system to fight cancer cells.
You can cook your barley in whatever ways you choose to, but, here’s my very simple and delicious recipe.
Ingredients:
Pearl barley
Water
Onions, Sunflower oil
Chopped tomato
Bell Peppers and chili
Mixed herbs and salt to taste.
Rinse your dried barley under cold running water, you can either soak for few hours before cooking to save time or just cook without soaking. Whatever way you choose to cook, strain your barley before cooking.
Bring it to a boil, then let it simmer without the lid on, cook until the grains are soft. Drain, by separating your barley from the water. Use the water from the barley as weight loss drink.http://: https://www.sherryfah2.com/barleythe-food-for-weight-loss/
Either chopped your onions, peppers, and chili or blend to a smooth consistency.
For every 250g barley, use 4 tablespoons of oil. Pour the oil into a saucepan, add your pepper, tomatoes, onions and chill. Let the mixture cook for about 7 minutes on low heat.
Add your boiled barley. Cook for further 7 minutes. Add water when required. Season with salt and mixed herbs.
Serve with cheese or anything you fancy. I had mine with a squeeze of lemon.
Please share your experience.
