There are ways you are making yourself fat without even having a clue. You complain of adding extra pounds without knowing why. Well, have a look at the following to see what you are doing wrong.
Are you eating extra for exercise?
Just because you ran a marathon or work out in the gym does not mean you need to go on food comma. Eating extra because you are exercising not only make you fat, renders the effort you put in worthless. The purpose of working out or engaging in any form of exercise is to keep fit, putting in double of the calories you burn right back would only make you fat.
Are you eating the wrong portion?
Losing weight comes with portion-control. Eating the wrong portion makes you fat, the more food you consume, the more calories you dump into your body .
Are you overindulging in healthy food?
Just like the saying goes “Too much of anything is bad” the same goes for healthy foods. For the fact that a group of food is termed “healthy” it does not mean you have to over-eat. Over indulging in food of any kind only added to your weight gain even if such foods are in the healthy food bracket.
Are you sapping sugar for sweetener?
Swapping sugar for sweetener might help in counting down calories, however, research has shown that the body ask for what it’s been deprived. Some sweeteners also increase appetites and make you eat more. Sweeteners are in most cases added to unhealthy foods. Instead of swapping to something you are not totally sure of, why not just reduce your sugar intake?
Are you consuming alcohol?
The truth of the matter is this: if you are trying to lose weight, you need to stop drinking alcohol. Alcohol and fat burning do not mix. Alcohol slows the body ability to burn fat down. Drinking alcohol is the easiest way to put on weight. So, you might have to think again before gulping down alcohol. When alcohol is in your system, it is harder for your body to burn down the fat already in because alcohol comes in the way of lipid oxidation.
Are you drinking enough water?
Your body has the tendency to confuse thirst with hunger if you are not drinking enough fluid. Drinking water or herbal tea throughout the day would not only aid weight loss, it would make you healthier. When you don’t drink enough, you eat constantly because you confuse the sensation of thirst with hunger. The solution is to drink regularly.
Are you always surrounded by food?
It is easier to over indulge in food if you are surrounded by food. Take a minute and look around you. Who do you follow on Facebook and instagram ? This is the time to change what you see and what you can easily grab and munch.
Are you a party animal?
Socialising is good for health, but, if you love excessive outing or partying, you might be adding unwanted weight. Outing, gathering and partying naturally involve food and in most cases unhealthy snacks. Swap your food outing to activity outing. Go for a run with friends, invite friends to swimming classes and have a laugh competing with one another. Think of physical activities you can enjoy and snack healthily.
