Savoury Couscous salad with pepper, mushroom, onions and chicken.
Couscous is an alternative to rice and pasta. It is cheap and filling. It is very easy to make. Couscous is a dish that required no effort to make. It is healthy and delicious. Couscous is made from many tiny granules made from steamed and dried durum wheat.
The preparation time for this dish is about 10 minutes. If you are thinking of quick easy meal ideas, this savoury salad cannot be beaten. I used all my favourite vegetables and meat. It is hearty and healthy. This dish is also colourful. It brightens the dinner table.
My savoury salad can be made with vegetable of your choice. I used bell peppers and mushroom due to their nutritional benefits. Mushroom provide the moisture I needed. You can add anything to your couscous. I made mine using the following ingredients, however, you can experiment with whatever you fancy.
Here is how I made mine.
Ingredients.
Couscous 200g
Water 5 tablespoons
Salt to taste
Black crack pepper
Red Pepper (2 medium sizes)
Onions ( 1 medium size)
Sunflower oil 2 tablespoon
Mushroom
Tomatoes (2 medium sizes)
Chicken ( cooked) optional
Chop your onions, pepper, mushroom and put to a side. Prepare your chicken ( if using). Pan fry until cooked. In a pan, add oil and saute the onions for 1 minute until cooked, add the rest of the vegetables. Cook for another 2 minutes while stirring from time to time. Stir regularly is required to prevent sticking. Add the couscous and chicken (chicken is optional). Season with salt and pepper. Add water. Reduce the heat. Stir and cover with lid. Leave to simmer for another 3 minutes. Take the lid off. Stir for 30 seconds until you are satisfied with the texture.
Your food is ready. Enjoy.
I believe this is a very easy dish to indulge in. What do you think?
